This glossary explains common ozone terminology used in ozone generation, water treatment, oxidation processes, and industrial ozone systems.

PPM (Parts Per Million): A unit used to measure ozone concentration in air or water.
SLPM (Standard Liters Per Minute): A measurement of gas flow rate commonly used in ozone systems.
PSIG (Pounds per Square Inch Gauge): A pressure measurement used in compressed gas and ozone equipment.
VAC (Volts AC): Alternating current electrical voltage supplied to ozone equipment.
%w/w (Percent Weight by Weight): A measurement expressing ozone concentration by weight in an oxygen stream.
PPD (Pounds Per Day): A unit used to describe ozone production capacity.

Corona Discharge: A method of ozone generation where high voltage electrical discharge converts oxygen into ozone. This is the most common technology used in industrial ozone generators.
Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD): A high-voltage ozone generation method used in corona discharge systems.
UV Ozone Generator: An ozone generator that uses ultraviolet light to convert oxygen into ozone. Typically used for low-concentration ozone applications.
Cold Plasma: A dielectric barrier discharge process used to generate ozone from oxygen gas.
Oxygen Concentrator: A device that supplies concentrated oxygen to improve ozone production efficiency.
Air Dryer: Equipment used to remove moisture from air before ozone generation.
Ozone Cell: The component where ozone is generated.
Ozone Output: The amount of ozone produced by a generator.
Cooling System: A method used to regulate ozone generator temperature.

Oxidation: A chemical reaction where ozone breaks down contaminants and microorganisms.
Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP): A treatment method combining ozone with UV or hydrogen peroxide to destroy contaminants.
Mass Transfer: The process of dissolving ozone gas into water.
Contact Tank: A tank designed to maximize ozone contact time in water treatment.
Contact Time: The amount of time ozone remains in contact with water or contaminants.
Venturi Injector: A device used to inject ozone gas into water using a pressure differential.
Diffuser: A component that disperses ozone gas into fine bubbles for improved dissolution.
Degassing: The removal of excess dissolved gas from water.
Off-Gas: Unused ozone gas released after treatment.

Ozone Concentration: The amount of ozone present in air or water, commonly measured in PPM, mg/L, or g/m³.
Dissolved Ozone: Ozone gas dissolved into water for oxidation or disinfection applications.
Ambient Ozone: Ozone present in the surrounding air environment.
Residual Ozone: The remaining ozone concentration after treatment.
ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential): A measurement indicating the oxidizing strength of water.
Ozone Analyzer: An instrument used to measure ozone concentration.

Oxygen Concentrator: A device that increases oxygen purity for ozone production.
