Ozone Cooling Tower Treatment With and Without Mineral Removal
This case study evaluates the performance of ozone as a stand-alone cooling tower treatment technology and examines the additional benefits of combining ozone with a mineral removal system. Conducted on commercial cooling tower installations, the research investigates water conservation, cycles of concentration, corrosion control, bacterial reduction, and overall system performance. The findings demonstrate that ozone treatment significantly reduced biological activity, maintained low corrosion rates, and enabled higher cycles of concentration, resulting in substantial water savings. The study also highlights the advantages of integrating mineral removal in hard-water applications, further improving operational efficiency and reducing scaling potential. Overall, the paper provides practical evidence supporting ozone as an effective and environmentally responsible alternative to conventional chemical cooling water treatment programs.
