Ozone for Destroying Color in Drinks

This article examines the effectiveness of ozone as a treatment method for removing color-causing compounds from high-strength industrial liquid waste streams, particularly molasses spentwash generated by distilleries. The study evaluates the impact of ozone dosage, contact time, and operating conditions on color reduction and organic load removal, demonstrating that ozonation can significantly enhance decolorization when used as a tertiary treatment process. The findings highlight ozone’s potential as an environmentally friendly oxidation technology for improving wastewater quality and supporting sustainable industrial water management practices.
