Response of Hydroponic Tomato to Daily Applications of Aqueous Ozone via Drip Irrigation

This peer-reviewed study investigates the effects of applying dissolved ozone directly through drip irrigation systems in hydroponic tomato production. The research evaluates plant growth, fruit yield, physiological performance, and algae control under different aqueous ozone concentrations. The results demonstrate that low to moderate ozone levels did not negatively impact tomato productivity and, in some cases, improved plant growth characteristics such as leaf area, stem thickness, and biomass accumulation. The study also found a noticeable reduction in algae growth within the growing substrate, highlighting the potential of aqueous ozone as a valuable tool for irrigation system hygiene, water treatment, and greenhouse crop production.
