The Application of Ozone for Air Treatment: Case Study of a Bingo Hall HVAC System

This case study examines the integration of ozone technology into a commercial HVAC system to improve indoor air quality in a large gaming facility. Conducted at a 20,000-square-foot bingo hall in Washington State, the project evaluated ozone’s effectiveness in reducing odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and airborne contaminants associated with heavy indoor smoking environments. The results demonstrated significant improvements in air quality, substantial reductions in customer complaints, lower ventilation and energy costs, and the elimination of expensive activated carbon filtration requirements. The study highlights how properly controlled ozone systems can enhance HVAC performance, improve occupant comfort, and provide a cost-effective solution for odor and VOC management in commercial and hospitality facilities.
